Electric Lawn Mower : Substantial

I have used corded electric mowers for the past 25 years. I like the fact that they are quiet, relatively light compared with gasoline or battery-powered mowers, require no maintenance other than sharpening the blade, and of course, the freedom from using and storing gasoline. My first electric was a B&D with a flipover handle, which was its greatest asset. After 10 years of use, the motor died, and I replaced it with a Lawn Boy, which I replaced with a B&D Lawn Hog about 6 years ago. The Lawn Hog has many plastic parts, which are starting to break: a handle support, the spring-loaded side chute cover, the protective flap at the back of the main deck, and the dead man switch is getting a little flaky. At the end of the 2011 mowing season, even though the B&D hadn't died (yet), I started looking for a replacement.

Compared with the Lawn Hog, the Greenworks is far more substantial -- I was surprised by the weight of the shipping box when it was delivered. Design is thoughtful, addressing many of the shortcomings of the B&D:
